Our treatment institute has over 30 years of experience in treating post traumatic headaches, neck pain, back pain, upper and lower extremity pain, whiplash, and concussion. We also care for patients who have been injured as a result of an auto accident or workplace injury.
I. The Institute seeks to identify the cause of the patient’s problems. This is accomplished by a thorough history and physical exam. Based on this history and physical exam, diagnostic tests may be ordered.
II. When appropriate; non-drug treatments of psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, vestibular therapy, physical therapy or outside referrals for alternative treatments are utilized.
III. Symptomatic medicines to relieve acute problems.
IV. Preventative medicines to reduce the frequency and severity of symptoms.
What to Expect At Your First Visit:
A thorough history and neurological exam will be performed. The diagnosis will be discussed and the treatment program outlined. Please bring all prior records, x-rays, CT sans, MRI’s, etc. that are related to your problem, with you to your appointment.
Appointment Policy:
The Institute routinely sees patients Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Office is closed on Fridays. 24-hour notice is required and appreciated for cancellations. A broken appointment may keep someone else from receiving the treatment they need.
Phone Policy:
Your call is very important to us. Our phones operate on a voicemail system, however we routinely check our messages throughout the day. Every effort is made to return your routine call quickly. However, it may take several hours (up to 48 hours) to get back to you. Our operational hours are Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. EMERGENCY CALLS are accepted 24 hours daily. For emergency calls after hours please leave your message on our voice mailbox #9. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.
Medication Policy:
Limits are placed on medication usage as overuse of medicines can contribute to headache and produce potential side effects. Any prescription lost, stolen, or destroyed shall NOT be refilled. Medications need to be taken as prescribed by Dr. Sharfman and will not be refilled prematurely.
All prescriptions are dispensed at Office Visits Only.
Payment Policy:
The Headache And Neurological Treatment Institute desires to make treatment available to all who desire help, with regards to the evaluation and treatment Dr. Sharfman provides. Payment is expected at the time of visit, however when applicable, we will file Worker’s Compensation, and motor vehicle accidents. Any copayment and/or % not covered is then due at time services are rendered.
